Painting 3 – red red red!

After all that sanding, time for the fun stuff!

Firstly the lead paint, for all the areas if gone down to bare metal:

And then it was finally time for the moment of truth. The red paint.

I’ve got a 5ltr tin of gloss steel paint from Paints and Lacquers in Halifax, in ‘signalrot’ – the brightest, cheeriest red I could get. Plus a set of disarmingly tiny rollers specially designed for use with gloss paint (the dense foam means a smoother finish).

It was 5.30pm before I even got started in the first coat so I didn’t get too far, but here are some pictures showing Swallow looking very, very pleased with her new colour…(and I’m pretty chuffed too!)

It’s looking absolutely wonderful and to see such a change from the boat in its original colour is fantastic.

    P.s. Love the blog

Thanks Peter! It’s such a personal journey with many ups and downs…wonderful when people take the time to reach out and say something lovely like this.
